never Miss a beat |
Let's just call me HUNTERESS THOMPSON. (See what I did there?) |
It started with breaking into a caravan for one night’s sleep. It ended with PUTTING MY HAND IN A MAN’S FACE at Beyonce…
“Glastonberry” 2011 was one of the best. (I say that every year). It was the second time I went in a “work” capacity with Q; staying in hospitality, charming my way to free breakfasts at Lulu’s, using flushing toilets, seeing Will Young every morning in an even barmier state than the morning before, shooting in the photo pit at the Pyramid Stage, reviewing Chase & Status at West Holts thinking “I might die watching this 40-year-old woman get an ASBO”, catching sight of a legless Bobby Gillespie backstage, seeing Kate Moss exit a car that had been brandished in mud with “Kate Moss should learn how to fucking WALK”… these are just some of the things that make me feel plain PRIVILEGED to be there ever year, celebrating music with the best people on the planet. I have to be dragged back to London every year, kicking and screaming for another encore. Come Monday morning, I look around and say, “Yes! Every one of these people is an absolute hero.” (Apart from the Tory that died in the bog…)
Anyway, here are some of my favourite 2011 memories…
